CARNAVAL
Most pop imagery behind Carnival culture throughout our history were always centered around the figure of the woman body. Always in an objectification point-of-view with the purpose to please the male sight. Even the most famous gay ball in Rio, the "Gala Gay", always represented voluptuos bodies of travestis and transwomen.
In this work in dialog with Antonio da Silva, we come up with the idea of offering a male gaze perspective, that also would play with the idea of objetification, but now witha gay erotic spin. Cause as we say in Brazil "There is no carnival without glitter, glue gun and gays".
The Carnaval series was shot with a point-n-shoot analog camera during 2016 Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. The project is a collaboration with Antonio da Silva for his movie “Brazil Carnival”
